On holiday with Children. Relax and let our experience make your family holiday perfect.
We are happy to welcome your little ones to our chalets.
We have built a loyal family base of guests over the years – even before our children arrived we always did our best when it came to family ski holidays with youngsters. Our little additions, Lochlann, born in the alps on the first day of the season in 2011 and Leon, born in Spring 2014, (slightly better timing second time round!) and now baby Eden, (born 21st July 2016) have given us a genuine understanding of how important the child friendly touches are. We understand what size car seat you require. We know how important it is to have 2 sets of sheets with each cot for those minor accidents. Spare dummy at 7pm because yours are “lost”…no problem! Morealps, through experience, like to think that they have thought of many things to help minimise panicky moments and “parental flapping”, especially when you are in a foreign country – we are always on hand when minor accidents inevitably happen with children and young adults. The last few years have seen a huge rise in 3 generation holidays and we have some chalets that are perfect for these experiences. Granny, grandad, mum, dad and a few grand children in their own, private chalet for the week ensures that you truly have your own experience going on and do not have to worry about noise, dinner timings or watching cartoons all afternoon on a rest day! It’s your special time away and we’ll make it exactly that.
The addition of our child packs has proved really popular. Spare nappies, wipes, handmade organic food…your babies and toddlers will be looked after in the alps as they are in any major city. We have a decent collection of spare bits and bobs that might just save you spending a fortune after losing a mitten or pair of goggles on the last day of your holiday, (and then find that the ‘lost’ item is tucked away in a bag when you get home and unpack!)
Food – Children’s high tea is usually served around 6pm and is made from scratch – all fresh, varied and most importantly, homemade. If, however, your children are creatures of habit and love spaghetti bolognese every day of the week, just let us know and that is what we’ll make for them.
We ask you to let us know in advance what your favourite childrens foods are. We will do our best to make sure they have this – this info is found on our booking pack.
We can provide potties, toilet steps, cots, high chairs, baby monitors, sterilisers and will do our best to get anything else that you or your children might need. These items should be requested at least one month before your holiday. If you have any questions, just ask Dan, Sarah or any of the team.
Don’t bring large items such as nappies/formula – ask us and we’ll have it ready for your arrival. Baby packs cost between £15 – £30 depending on your list.
Base layers are the lightest and most important clothing after ski suits. Most children relax in these when they return from the slopes, so no need to pack loads of jeans/tracksuit bottoms/jumpers etc. Two pairs of gloves/mittens are a must – one pair drying while the other pair is getting worn sledging or making a snowman after the lifts have closed. Sunglasses with a strap and goggles are needed for all children, toddlers and babies. We are lucky to have lots of blue sky, sunny days throughout the Winter, (and especially from February onwards). Suncream and SPF 30 lip balm is much better value in your supermarket in the UK.
Lift pass is free for under 5’s.
Les Galopins accept toddlers from 18 months and up. Les Galopins is a fantastic creche that is located just 30 metres from Tamarind and Genepi. It is less than 5 minutes walk from our other chalets.

Les Galopins Prices – We are happy to assist you in your booking and recommend this facility very highly. Our children have all gone to Les Galopins and we can honestly say it is one of the best we’ve used with great, local staff who have been there for years.
Skiing with little ones: Do not book lessons for more than an hour or two per day. Some days their legs are so tired that all they want to do is flake out in the afternoon – this is normal. We have sledges and “bum sleds” for you to borrow, so don’t bother bringing these with you.
If there is a dry ski slope or indoor snow-dome near you in the UK, use it as this is time well spent and a great family activity. In the few weeks leading up to your holiday, we recommend visiting these facilities for fitness and to make the whole process, (putting on gloves/skis/boots etc) feel more familiar. If you have bought new boots, then a few sessions will really make them more comfortable before your first full day of wearing them. Custom foot beds are a great investment and can be changed between your ski boots and hiking boots, (so you can get the benefit of them before and after your holiday).
